R.I.P. Fort Worth D.I.Y.
DIY spots are on the rise. It is great to see the skate community embrace the raw nature of creating something on their own, without regard to what could potentially be destroyed. Evan Owen is one of the more notorious DIY enthusiasts in the DFW area. Evan helped build this DIY spot directly across from the "Dickies" Outlet, that was clearly visible from the adjacent road. It started as a quarter pipe, and later built into a rough-riding mini ramp that had pool coping on one side, and a set steel coping on the other. Eventually, some of the pool coping came off, adding a crust factor making the spot that much more fun to skate. The spot since has been destroyed, but the memories always remain. Evan, and some others have built a new quarter pipe in Fort Worth that seems to be a lot smoother, and possibly in a more hidden location. We are excited to see what new DIY spots will appear this year, but first want to thank Evan Owen, Mack Dafoe, John Shea, John Slater, Johnathan Medillin, Philip Kessel, and any others who helped make this spot possible. Continue the good work.
